Genoa up interest in Boateng
Portsmouth and Ghana midfielder Kevin Prince Boateng
It has been reported on Tuesday morning that despite earlier denials Ghana midfielder Kevin Prince Boateng is close to sealing a move away from English first division club Portsmouth and could well be on his way to Italian Seri A club Genoa.
Boateng’s lawyer Mario Miele has revealed the move is back on: “we are awaiting the call from Genoa and in all likelihood we will have a meeting with the leadership of the Rossoblu sometime this week. As far as we are concerned there are no problems with the deal.”
With Genoa’s Seri A rivals Lazio, the club widely tipped previously to be Boateng’s destination of choice, out of the running to snap up the fiery 23-year-old midfielder the chances Boateng will make the move to Genoa are very high.
Boateng’s reputation was further enhanced with his performances at the World Cup in South Africa where he helped Ghana reached the quarterfinals and was on target when they defeated the United States 2–1 in the round of 16.
It looks more likely now that the former Tottenham player will be heading to the Italian port city of Genoa according to Miele. All that waits is for the two clubs to work out the formalities.
“The problem to solve is between the two clubs who have yet to reach an agreement,” his manager explained.
