Pedroto Leaves AS Aviacao

Portuguese coach Bernardino Pedroto has left AS Aviacao in Angola after being told that the club’s precarious financial situation would mean the sale of key players and a limited budget for new purchases ahead of the start of the new season.

Pedroto departs after seven years at the airline-owned club, during which time he won three GiraBola titles in 2002, 2003 and 2004.

The side also reached the group phase of the MTN CAF Champions League in 2003 but finished fifth in the Angolan championship last season, 20 points behind champions Primeiro Agosto.

“The club is in a delicate financial situation and after a talk with the (club) president we have agreed on my departure,” Pedroto said.
