| Inspirational captain whose performances were the catalyst behind Ghana’s success in the World Cup qualifiers. Moved to Udinese at the age of 16 and in July 2005 signed for Turkey’s Fenerbahce after two seasons at Juventus. Appiah was carrying an injury through much of the 2006 MTN Africa Cup of Nations, where he and Ghana failed to impress, although he did play in all three of the Black Stars’ matches. |
