Player Profile:

  Mohamed Aboutrika
Mohamed Aboutrika notched eight goals, including the all-important decisive goal, for Al Ahly as they successfully defended their MTN CAF Champions League title. The silky skills of the international midfielder, who turned 28 just days before the second leg of the final, propelled an injury hit Al Ahly towards a record-equaling fifth title.

Player Profile

  Anis Boujelbene
CS Sfaxien's captain Anis Boujelbene proved the engine room of his team's unlikely challenge for the MTN CAF Champions League title, leading his side right to the final. Boujelbene, a long standing member of the provincial club, set aside a proposed move to Zamalek of Egypt in June to stay with his side for the tournament, persuaded of the opportunity to repeat his role in Sfaxien's 1998 CAF Cup triumph.

Player Profile

  Flavio
Flavio has never had the easiest of times at Al Ahly but the Angolan international is finally proving his worth to the fickle fans in Egypt. The striker has battle to find acceptance since his move from Petro Athletic in Angola and a run of almost a year without a goal in the Egyptian league often made him the subject of supporters' derision.

Player Profile

  Joetex Frimpong
Ghana's Joetex Frimpong is no strange to success in the MTN CAF Champions League and proved his quality in his brief stint at CS Sfaxien. The international striker, who had twice before won the continent's top title in the colours of Nigeria's Enyimba in 2003 and 2004, joined the Tunisian club at the start of the group phase and proved an immediate hit.

Player Profile

  Onyekachi Okonkwo
Onyekachi Okonkwo was a member of Enyimba's winning side in the 2003 MTN CAF Champions League final set him aside as a quality player and this was reinforced in the 2006 campaign in the colours of Orlando Pirates. The Nigerian import, who claims an age of 24, was far and away the best player for Pirates in their stuttering campaign, where they managed to make the final four but proved inept in front of goals.

Player Profile

  Didier Ya Konan
Didier Ya Konan is the latest player to emerge off the fabled ASEC Abidjan production line who looks headed off to richer climes, based on the superlative performances that he delivered in this year's MTN CAF Champions League. Ya Konan shared top prize with Mohamed Aboutrika in the goal scoring stakes in this year's MTN CAF Champions League, notching eight goals.
