Manuel Jose, coach of MTN CAF Champions League title holders Al Ahly, has been ordered to make no more inflammatory statements ahead of the second leg of the final. Jose has been fuming since his side's 1-1 draw with CS Sfaxien in the first leg in Cairo on Sunday, hitting out at the referee and then at Egyptian reporters. “It is the right time for Mr. Jose to keep his mouth shut as he is endangering the club’s image in Africa,” a club statement said, according to Egyptian press reports. The Portuguese coach was fined US$2,500 by the Egyptian Football Association after accusing referees of |

blowing negatively against his side. “Mr. Jose has been instructed to cool down with media officials after each game, mainly after accusing Gambian referee Modou Sowe of failing to stop Sfaxien from wasting time and stalling the play on many occasions,” added the club statement. Jose accused the Confederation of African Football of little concern over cynical tactics and poor officiating: "It seems that CAF doesn't care about how much time is played during a game or any similar issues. But even with this scandalous refereeing, we could have finished Sfaxien off in the first half when we squandered three easy chances," Jose said after Sunday’s draw. | ||||||
