| Last Chance Saloon For Pirates And Enyimba | ||||||
| Johannesburg - September 15, 2006 | ||||||
|
After being embarrassed by ASEC in Abidjan, Pirates have one last chance to claim a place in the semifinals of the MTN CAF Champions League. The equation is simple: Pirates must win to progress. Anything less will see yet another high-profile South African club fall out of the tournament long before the sharp end is reached. A point would suffice for Enyimba, although they would have to settle for second place as their inferior head-to-head record with ASEC means that even a win for the Nigerians allied to a loss for the Ivorians against Hearts would not secure top spot in Group B. Pirates will be without Jabu Mahlangu after his petulant |

dismissal in Abidjan last week, although his contribution since joining the Buccaneers last season has been virtually nonexistent anyway. This could be the match of the weekend and all of Sub-Saharan Africa will be pinning their hopes on Pirates. Playing in Johannesburg should give the Buccaneers the edge, but their Nigerian visitors will be mightily determined to crush their dreams. | ||||||
