The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has named Frenchman Claude Le Roy as the new coach of their national team.

GFA general secretary, Kofi Nsiah told MTNFootball.com that the Frenchman will sign a two-year contract toi coach the Black stars when he arrives in the country next week.

"Mr Le Roy would be arriving in Accra by September 20 to sign a contract with the Ghana Football Association after which he would be outdoored." Nisiah said.

The former DR Congo coach beat local manager, Cecil Jones Attuquayefio to the Black Stars job.

After signing his contract, Le Roy's first job would be to lead

the Black Stars to Asia where they play two international friendly games in four days against Japan in Yokohama on October 4 and travel to Seoul to take on South Korea on October 8.

The GFA's nine-member search committee set up to scout for a new coach for the Black Stars on 6 September interviewed the two from a list of three short listed candidates in Accra for the Black Stars job.

The committee in August short listed three applicants, Cecil Jones Attuquayefio and two Frenchmen, Claude Le Roy and Phillippe Troussier, from a tall list of 54 candidates.

But Phillippe Troussier failed to show up for the job interview.

Leroy's finest moment came in 1988 when he led Cameroon to the African Nations Cup title before returning to coach them at the 1998 World Cup in his homeland.

He has also coached Senegal and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The position became vacant since Serbian Ratomir Dujkovic resigned in July following a second round finish at the 2006 World Cup in Germany.
