Appiah Urges Caution Over Sudan Clash
|
Ghana captain Stephen Appiah is urging caution ahead of Sunday’s World Cup qualifier against Sudan in Accra.
Fans of the Black Stars are overly optimistic over the game because they beat the Nile Crocodiles in their previous game in Omdurman in June.
The win took Ghana five points clear at the top of Group D with maximum nine points from three matches.
The Black Stars will qualify for the World Cup if they beat Sudan and group opponents Mali and Benin draw but Appiah insists they must respect the Nile Crocodiles
"The players and management team have worked hard to get to this position but the job is not completed yet," Appiah said.
"I will urge all Ghanaians to fully support the team on Sunday so we can inch even closer to Angola and South Africa 2010.
"We still have three games to go and in football anything can happen, but what the nation can expect from this team is 110% on the field.
"I hope the nation also supports us 110% so we can win the game on Sunday.
''We have to let our home games count and we are working hard to ensure that the best team is put out there to face Sudan.
'We dont have that many injuries so there should be a full squad for the coaching staff to choose from.
"I have no doubt whatever starting 11 we put out there, will be good enough to win the game, but we have to respect the opposition because there are no easy games in international football," Appiah concluded.
Ghana face Sudan on Sunday with kickoff scheduled for 17.00 GMT
