Nigeria Run Riot To Score 4-1 Win

Nigeria ran riot to score a 4-1 win over Sierra Leone and finish the first round group phase of the African qualifiers for the 2010 World Cup finals as the only team with a 100 percent record.
The Super Eagles could even afford an outrageous own goal from captain Joseph Yobo as the Everton centre back hammered the ball back over his own goalkeeper for Sierra Leone’s consolation goal.
It came after Christian Obodo had opened the score in the 20th minute and after Sierra Leone had a genuine penalty appeal turned down.
The 32mnd minute own goal brought parity for all of three minutes before Obinna Nsofor restored the lead. Peter Odemwingie made it 3-1 on the stroke of half-time.
Defender Chidi Odiah’s shot increased the score line in the 51st minute and 20 minutes later Ike Uche could have had a fifth but it was disallowed.
South Africa finished second in the group standings ahead of Sierra Leone on goal difference after they beat Equatorial Guinea 1-0 in Malabo on Saturday.
