Stephen Keshi is poised to take over from Frenchman Jean Francois Jodar as the new coach of Mali, his appointment awaiting final approval from the country’s sports ministry, officials said on Friday.

The former Nigerian World Cup captain has had two previous spells as coach of Togo, including qualifying them for the 2006 World Cup finals, and was one of the favourites to take over his native Nigeria, who are to name their new coach next month.
