Gyan Clear To Play In Nations Cup Opener
January 16, 2008

Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan will be allowed to play in Sunday’s MTN Africa Cup of Nations finals opening match despite a sending off in his last competitive international, the Confederation of African Football said on Wednesday.

The Italian-based striker was sent off against Brazil in Dortmund in the World Cup finals 18 months ago.

Ghana have not played a competitive match since the World Cup finals, skipping the qualification campaign for the 2008 MTN Africa Cup of Nations finals as the host nation.

The Confederation of African Football said they had received no notification from FIFA over any suspension.
