Tanzania squeeze past Chad
The East African side led 2-1 from the away leg last Friday and were expected to brush aside their opponents at home, but instead lost 1-0 to leave the aggregate score at 2-2, but ahead on away goals.
It will not be the result that Danish coach Jan Poulsen would have been hoping for but he can at least take solace from the fact that his side have moved through to the group stages, where they have been pooled with Cote d'Ivoire, Morocco and Gambia.
The only goal of the game came three minutes after halftime as Mahamat Ahmat Labo netted just as he had done in the first leg.
But Chad were unable to find the second goal they needed to move ahead and will have to wait another four years for a shot at World Cup qualification.
