Mambas secure passage

By MTNFootball.com Tuesday Nov 15, 21:00 +0200
Mozambique have eased into the group stages of the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers with a 4-1 victory over fellow COSAFA side Comoros on Tuesday night.

The Mambas held a slender 1-0 lead from the first leg on Friday, but were dominant in the return to complete a 5-1 aggregate win.

It took until midway through the first half for them to open the scoring though as Mamelodi Sundowns winger Elias Pelembe netted to settle the home nerves.

It was 2-0 just before halftime when Jeremias Sitoe scored, and the game was as good as over as a contest as midfielder Whiskey added a third.

Comoros came back into the game briefly when Mohamed Youssouf made the score 3-1, but Clesio Baque  put to rest any thoughts of a comeback when he netted a fourth for the home side.

Mozambique will now go into Group G of the qualifiers along with Egypt, Guinea and Zimbabwe.
