Benin top the group despite draw
Benin climbed to the top of Group H despite behind held to a 1-1 draw by Rwanda in a 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier at the Stade Amahoro in Kigali on Sunday afternoon.
Razak Omotoyossi put the visitors ahead in the 74th minute, his second goal in as many matches, but they were unable to maintain their perfect record as they conceded a late equalizer.
Labama Kamana netted the equalizer from the penalty spot in the 88th minute after Khaled Adenon had committed a foul inside the penalty area.
The visitors had to play the rest of the match with ten men as Adenon was given his marching orders by referee Bamlak Teseema.
The results saw the Squirrels climbing to the summit of the group with four points, one point ahead of Algeria who still have to play Mali.
Benin will now face Ethiopia in a 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Sunday, while Rwanda will travel to Nigeria, before continuing with their world cup qualifiers in March 2013.
