Sudan jolt Zambia out of comfort zone
Mohammed Sheikh Eldin of Sudan
Zambia were a poor second best in this 2014 World Cup qualifier against a Sudan whom they beat 3-0 in the Africa Cup quarterfinals on February 4.
The game was scoreless in the first 45 minutes but there was very little from the Zambians to show they could stand an up and be counted as African kings.
Sudan took a deserved lead on 49 minutes when Mudathir Careca fired in a long-range shot passed Kennedy Mweene.
Saif Masawi added to Zambia's misery in the 70th minute when he headed in Sudan's second.
Sudan are second on three points level with Ghana but the latter have a better goal difference.
Zambia are third on zero points together with bottom placed Lesotho who lost 7-0 away to Ghana on June 1.
Meanwhile, a very sore Zambia depart the Khartoum heat on Saturday for the cooler surroundings of leafy Ndola where arrive at midday on Sunday to camp where they will also host Ghana on June 9.
