"El Tri" have never won the World Cup after 13 tournaments attempts since 1930 in Uruguay where they lost all their first round matches and 2010 in South Africa provides them with another opportunity to take a shot at glory.
In recent years, Mexico have qualified to all the FIFA World Cups since 1994 but they have never gone past round two and this is a dismal record that coach Javier Aguirre will be looking to improve considering that they qualified with one game to spare and the morale is high among the players.
In their entire long history of playing in the FIFA World Cup, Mexico have only made it to the quarter-final stage twice in 1970 and 1986 when they hosted the event. The class of 2010 have a lot of work to do next year if they are to shock all and sundry and help this soccer to their first ever success in the World Cup.
