Tim Howard was for a long time the third choice US goalkeeper and often looked on from the sidelines as Kasey Keller and Brad Friedel battled it out for the number one spot.

He became the first choice keeper in 2007 when Bob Bradley took over US coach, at club level Howard began playing for the New York / New Jersey Metro Stars in 1997 and moved to Manchester United in 2003.

He made history when he became te first American to win the FA Cup when he helped United defeat Milwall in the 2004 Final. He left United in 2006 first on loan and then permanently in 2007 to sign up for Everton where he has been the first choice for four consecutive seasons.

Howard made his international debut against Ecuador in March 2002.
