Is a former Manchester United defender who has excelled for the United States in the centre of defense, he joined United after impressing one of their scouts during a youth tournament in Northern Ireland, he was at United from 2003 - 2006 but spent on season on loan at Charlton Athletic.
He played for the US at the 2007 Concacaf Gold Cup and was injured during the final against Mexico which the Americans won 2-1, he is a specialist at playing long looping balls from the defense and is able to catch opposition defenders out unaware. As he did during the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup games against Egypt in the group stages and Brazil in the final.
Spector has been impressive during the qualifying campaing and last years confederations cup and has made the most of the playing time afforded to him as both Steve Cherundolo and Oguchi Onyewu nursed injuries over the last two years.
