Cameroon suffer third defeat
Cameroon have ended their 2012 London
Olympics Women’s Tournament on a low note with a 3-1 loss to New Zealand in
their final pool match on Tuesday.
The West Africans have ended the pool
stages with the worst record of all the women’s sides, having lost three of
their games in the competition, conceding 11 goals in the process.
They did at least manage a goal against the
Kiwis, Gabrielle Onguene getting a consolation when the scoreline was already
3-0.
Rebecca Smith and Sarah Gregorius scored
for New Zealand, along with an own goal from the unfortunate Ysis Sonkeng.
New Zealand booked their place in the
knockout stages with the win as one of the two best third-place finishers and
will play the USA in the next round.
