The Column - Eagles Nest

The eagle stands firm and proud on the national crest of Nigeria.

It is a fearless, sure-footed bird of prey blessed with exceptional eye sight.

Like this bird, Eagles Nest is a column which discusses topical issues and personalities in the news in a forthright, hard-hitting and insightful manner, digging very deep to highlight the salient facts and positions in the ever-volatile Nigerian game.

Nigeria may have produced some top-class talent over the years, but the management of this national passion still leaves a lot to be desired.

Eagles Nest will contribute to the national discourse for football in Nigeria to attain world-class status, both on and off the pitch.

The Columnist - Samm Audu

Samm Audu is a widely travelled Nigerian football journalist with over 24 years working experience after bagging a Second Class Upper Division degree in Mass Communications from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

An award-winning journalist, 'Master Blaster' has worked variously, heading several leading local and international publications including Star Soccer, Sports Souvenir, Complete Sports, Kick Off Nigeria and FourFourTwo Nigeria Magazines.

His experience has also spanned highly commended coverage of major international football tournaments like the World Cup, in 1990 and 1998, as well as the Africa Cup of Nations since 1994.

Samm Audu has reported the Nations Cup for Agence France Presse (AFP) since the
2002 edition in Mali.
