Nigeria stars said they will back
Mikel Obi to victory in Saturday’s UEFA Champions League final against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena.
Childhood friend Obinna Nsofor of Lokomotive Moscow said Mikel has done well and now needs the support of Nigerians as Chelsea face Bayern in the biggest game of the season.
"I wish Mikel victory in the final. He is a friend, a brother and colleague. We all should support Chelsea in the final because of Mikel," Nsofor told MTNFootball.com
CSKA Moscow winger Ahmed Musa in the same token rallied for support for Mikel and Chelsea.
"It is a thing of joy to see a Nigerian in our time playing in the final of UEFA Champions League. I am happy for Mikel and I am supporting his club Chelsea to beat Bayern. I have been praying for him since the day Chelsea beat Barcelona," said Ahmed Musa, who like Mikel and Nsofor grew up in the North central city of Jos.
Defender Ugo Ukah, who recently quit Polish club Widzew Lodz, said Nigerian support for Mikel should be total.
"Mikel has really done well for himself and Nigeria. I am proud of him. This is a time Nigerians should forget about teams they support and go for Mikel and Chelsea in the final” he enjoined.
“Personally, I’m backing Mikel and Chelsea. I wish him good outing and luck."
Eagles recently invited striker Emmanuel Nwachi said his prayer is for Mikel to win the Champions League trophy just as Nwankwo Kanu and Finidi George did in 1995.
"Mikel has already made us proud as Nigerians. It has been long a Nigerian played in the Champions League final and now I see Mikel winning it,” he said
Torino of Italy midfielder Nnamdi Oduamadi told MTNFootball.com that he wants Mikel to make history on Saturday.
"Mikel’s efforts must be crowned with glory in this Champions League final. I want him to make history with Chelsea by winning the Champions League on Saturday. I will be wearing a blue jersey throughout Saturday in support of Mikel and Chelsea," Oduamadi revealed.
