Ahmed Musa, Emenike in straight fight
Ahmed Musa
Spartak Moscow are second with 68 points, while CSKA Moscow have 66 points in third place, same with Dynamo Moscow.
Both teams will clash on April 29 at CSKA but before then Spartak host Anzhi on Sunday a day after CSKA have battled Dynamo Moscow.
Emenike helped Spartak to a 2-0 win over Rubin Kazan to leap frog to second spot ahead of Ahmed Musa’s CSKA Moscow and both players have said they want to finish second on the table so as to bag the ticket to the UEFA Champions League next season.
Musa told MTNFootball.com that he wanted to be Russia champions with CSKA Moscow but said that cannot happen considering the gap between his team and leaders Zenit St.Petersburg and so they now target second spot.
“League title was my target when I joined CSKA, but it is obvious Zenit are runaway champions, so my compensation and that of the entire team will be to qualify for Champions League by finishing second, Spartak are there now but we want to upstage them,” Musa told MTNFootball.com
In same vein, Spartak bulky forward Emenike also has his eyes set on his team finishing in the second spot.
“Champions League ticket is all I want now. We are in second place now and it is in our hands to hold on to it while others will be doing catch-up. I am sure we won’t lose a grip of it,” he said.
