Inter top group with Lille win
The perfect start for Inter went as quickly as it came, after 120 seconds Diego Milito found himself clear from Cristian Chivu's pass, who chipped the 'keeper, but the Argentine’s effort only struck the cross-bar.
Mickael Landreau was tested from distance by a Mauro Zarate effort, while on the other end saw Benoit Pedretti see his strike go wide.
But it took only 19 minutes for Inter to break the deadlock as Walter Samuel header home a resulting corner from a Mauro Zarate shot.
Luca Castelazzi had his palms stung twice in quick succession when Eden Hazard unleashed a shot along with Ireneusz Jelen.
Christian Chivu wasted a perfectly good ball by Zarate but was later seen to be making a vital interception on a Joe Cole attack, while just before the break Jelen was blown for the narrowest of offside decisions.
After the restart, Milito once again found him scuff a big chance, as he did well to spring the offside trap only for him to balloon the ball over the posts.
Hazard skipped past Javier Zanetti only to see his powerful shot go wide, while Lilel continued to push seeing Rozehnal shoot his volley drift over the goal.
But the home side was to extend their lead as Milito made amends for his previous errors. Zanetti whipped between two defenders to send in a cross to the striker, who had an ease job to tap it in.
Lille did grab a consolation in the final minutes as Tulio De Melo latched onto a Lucio howler to chip it over Castelazzi.
Inter’s win mean that they are top of their group with nine points from four matches.
