City and Dortmund in clash of the Champions
Yaya Toure, Manchester City
The Uefa Champions League match will take place at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday evening, with kick off set for 20h45 (CAT).
The two heavyweights were on the receiving end of different fortunes in the opening Group D encounter, when City let in two late goals to lose 3-2 to Real Madrid while Dortmund edged out Ajax Amsterdam at home.
The pressure is on City to deliver the goods on match day and they will be looking to put their good run at home to the test.
A 17-match undefeated streak in UEFA Competitions is a statistic that would leave most teams fearful of stepping onto the English soil, but the German’s impressive form was only further boosted with their 5-0 demolition of Mönchengladbach.
Despite their domestic prowess, Dortmund are perennial underachievers in the intercontinental tournament and they will have a point to prove in this encounter.
City’s form is yet to reach the convincing level, which saw them lift their first Premier league trophy in over four decades and with a leaky defence coming up against a firing Dortmund, the goals are expected to be coming in at both ends of the field.
Labelled as the group of death, given the fact that all four teams in the group have previously lifted the highly coveted trophy, the clash is expected to produce some tantalizing football.
