Supremo: Massimo Moratti is backing to Andrea Stramaccioni ahead of Derby Della Madonnina
Inter president Massimo Moratti has given his backing to Andrea Stramaccioni ahead of the derby against Milan on Sunday.

The Nerazzurri failed to reclaim third place when they suffered a shock 4-1 defeat to Fiorentina on Sunday evening, leaving them winless on the road since November 2012.

Failure to ring in a decent set of results is said to have edged Stramaccioni’s head closer to the chopping block, but Moratti feels the young tactician isn’t solely to blame.

“There were eleven players on the pitch, not the coach. Perhaps he underestimated some things, but not the match itself,” the president told reporters.

“It's gone now anyway. It's a game not worth commenting on.”

Inter will turn out against Milan on the weekend in a battle for third place and Moratti angrily hit out at the press when asked if he will back the coach come match day.

"What sort of talk is that? Look, as a coach he's set out on a new experience this year that is totally different to what he was doing before.

“So you expect him to make some mistakes along the way and I don't think it was only his mistakes that led to yesterday's defeat."

Inter, Milan SMS: Javier Zanetti isn’t bothered by the sight of seeing Mario Balotelli with Milan and says he will never cross the great divide.

Zanetti unfazed by Balotelli’s change in alliance

Javier Zanetti isn’t bothered by the sight of seeing Mario Balotelli wearing the colours of Milan and says he will never cross the great divide.

Inter and Milan will meet on Sunday evening for the return leg of the Derby della Madonnina and it will be one which will carry extra rivalry as Inter welcome a familiar foe in Balotelli.

"We experienced a very intense period together at Inter. Now he's on the other side,” the veteran said at an Undici function.

“On Sunday I'll be happy to say hello to him and then once the first ball is kicked we'll be opponents. “

Balotelli is one of 19 players to have played for both halves of Milan, but the Beneamata skipper admits he will never make such a move in his career.

“Me join Milan? The thought has never crossed my mind and that's something that will never happen in my career.

“Who am I most worried about in the derby between Balotelli and Stephan El Shaarawy? They're both fantastic players, but what matters is that Inter are on form.”
