Keeping faith: Milan will continue to play their new 4-3-3 formation against Barcelona
Milan will continue to play their new 4-3-3 formation against Barcelona in what has been labeled as an ‘incredible draw’ by the club vice-president Adriano Galliani.

The Rossoneri’s failure to finish top of their Champions League group saw them paired alongside the top seeded, and favourites to win the tournament, Barcelona.

It will be the fifth time in two seasons that the teams will come head-to-head, following Milan’s elimination to the Catalans in the quarter-finals of the tournament last year.

“It was incredible that the Champions League draw paired us with Barcelona again, but the strongest team doesn’t always win,” Galliani said at a press conference promoting the miCOACH Elite system.

“Last season we gave them a good game, but they are an exceptional side, and despite changing coaches, are winning even more regularly. We’ll stick with our 4-3-3 formation when we meet them.”

Massimilano Allegri is expected to start Stephan El Shaarawy, Mbaye Niang and Bojan Krckic at his attacking trident, should Giampaolo Pazzini not recover in time for the fixture.

Mario Balotelli cannot take part in any of the Rossoneri’s European games due to his being cup tied with Manchester City.
