Luciano Moggi believes Juventus lost out on a ‘top player’ as Giampaolo Pazzini switched from Inter to Milan.

The striker was deemed surplus to requirements in Andrea Stramaccioni’s new look Inter side which only played with one striker upfront, Diego Milito.

And the disgraced former general director has hit out at Massimo Moratti for letting the player go after seeing him net a hat-trick for Milan over the weekend.

“The championship isn’t very poor,” Moggi told TuttoJuve.

“We no longer lust for the magic of [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic, but ‘Pazzo’ have regained the capacity to ignite enthusiasm.”

Moratti has frequently been criticized for releasing players that seem to flourish elsewhere and Moggi feels the same applies with Pazzini.

“And if Inter were unable to understand the supposed incompatibility with Milito - it is a path that has only been trodden on often in Moratti’s house.

“Inter’s cast off is already shining with the Rossoneri.

“We were allowed to recommend him to Juve but instead they fell behind and lost an unobtainable top player. Pazzini would be a brilliant partner for [Mirko] Vucinic, but instead they have opted for [Sebastian] Giovinco.”
