Milan are looking to edge out both Inter and Juventus in the transfer market in order to secure the signature of Chievo defender Francesco Acerbi.

The summer transfer window has been an ongoing battle between the three Serie A heavy weights after Juventus pipped Inter to signing Mauricio Isla and it now seems both Inter and Juve are determined to steal Acerbi from the hands of Milan.

It is well known there is an agreement between the Rossoneri and the player for a possible transfer but it now seems that the two giants are trying to sneak their way into negotiations, hoping to steal the player from Milan.

“Milan are trying to forestall Inter and Juventus for Francesco Acerbi,” transfer guru Gianluca Di Marzio told Sky Sports.

It is believed that Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani sat down with the players agent, Andrea Cattoli, on Monday evening in order to discuss the 24-year-old’s contract, to which he is co-contracted to Genoa and Chievo.

But despite the efforts of the Old Lady and the Beneamata, Di Marzio is of the utmost confidence that Acerbi will soon be presented at Milan: “AC Milan has reassured Acerbi and reaffirmed its resolve to close the transaction.

“Now we have to wait for the ownership, then the former central defender of Reggina should be red and black.”
