Milan president Silvio Berlusconi has declared on the club’s website that “Thiago Silva is staying” and will not be joining PSG.

The general director of PSG and the Milan vice-president have been in talks all week in order to come to an agreement suitable for the Rossoneri to bring in the Brazilian to Qatari-owned club.

Early on Thursday morning all deals seemed set to go but later that evening the club media tycoon Berlusconi announced that no such deal will go through despite the reported €50m PSG were set to offer.

“President Silvio Berlusconi has decided: Thiago Silva is staying,” read the official announcement on acmilan.com.

Having been able to put his foot down and reject such a large sum of money the via Turati vice-president has dubbed his boss’ action “an act of heroism”.

“Thanks to President Berlusconi, I feel much better now,” Adriano Galliani told Azzurro Italia.

“This was an act of heroism from the President. The money Milan will lose by not making the sale will be pumped back into the club by Berlusconi.”

It is now expected that the Rossoneri will offer Silva a new and revised offer in order for him to see out his full contract which ties him to the club until 2016.
