Luca Antonini has labeled Thiago Silva’s departure to Paris Saint-Germain as a ‘big loss’ for Milan, but is looking to the future.

The Brazilian became another player to join Milan’s mass exodus when he completed his transfer to the French club on Saturday evening for a transfer fee of €43m.

“Thiago is a big loss,” noted Antonini on acmilan.com, “we are disappointed to lose such a player but also because he is a great guy, a real champion.

“We were together for four years and I wish him all the best, I am sad to see him leave.”

Having lost their leading central defensive pair of Alessandro Nesta and Thiago Silva, Antonini is looking towards Milan’s new arrival, Francesco Acerbi to help fill the void.

“Milan have bought Acerbi, a young player but who seems very determined. We are not worried, we know that Thiago has gone but the club have always done very well and [Adriano] Galliani knows what to do."
