With only two matches having ended goalless, Week 24 in Serie A brought no less than 27 goals as Lecce kept their safety hopes alive, while Lazio got thumped by Palermo.

The Southerners from Lecce managed to surprise Siena by thumping them 4-1 in the early Sunday kick-off.

The Tuscans managed to take an early away lead through Cristiano Del Grosso, but their joy was short-lived as they fell to an equalizer just six minutes later before succumbing to the wrath of Serse Cosmi’s men.

A win for Lecce means that they moved just two points behind Siena - who occupy the final safety spot from relegation - but the Bianconeri do have a match in hand, which could prove to be the most vital game to avoid relegation.

Meanwhile, Napoli managed to get the best possible result before having to face Chelsea on Tuesday as they triumphed 3-0 against Fiorentina. An Edinson Cavani brace and a sublime solo effort by Ezeqiuel Lavezzi was enough to end their crisis and provide the perfect confidence booster for when they meet the Blues.

Bologna sprung the shock of the weekend as they extended Inter’s crisis to six games without a win. The Blaugranara took to the San Siro as if it was their home turf; out running Inter at every breath.

Marco Di Vaio made the most of the un-Italian like defending from Claudio Ranieri’s men to net a brace, before having substitute Roberto Aquafresca come on to make it 3-0.

An emphatic win for Stefano Pioli’s men, who are at arm’s reach of Serie A survival.

Amidst an injury crisis of epic proportions, Lazio travelled to Palermo with one fit defender and it was evident right from the world ‘go’.

The men in pink tore the backline - or lack thereof - of Lazio’s into pieces as they annihilated Edy Reja’s Lazio 5-1, with Massimo Donati and Edgar netting their first goals in the Rosanero shirts.  In addition, Andre Dias managed to get sent off to sum up the Biancocelesti misery for the night.

Parma succumbed to their first defeat under Roberto Donadoni as coach as they narrowly slipped to an early Fabio Borini goal to see Roma win 1-0 at the Olimpico.

Finally, Antonio Di Natale saw out his first home match without finding the back of the net as Udinese drew 0-0 to Cagliari; the Zebrette moving back into third spot once more.
