Italy move into FIFA’s 8th ranking

The new release of the FIFA World ranking has seen Italy move up to eighth place following their impressive run of results under Cesare Prandelli.

The Azzurri were sitting in ninth place during the last recorded FIFA rankings and have risen one spot in their prelude to June’s Euro 2012 tournament.

The 2010 World Cup winners Spain maintain first place while Germany have surpassed Holland in the standings and moved into second.

Fabio Capello’s former side England has kept a hold of their fifth place while Argentina made a surprise slip from the top 10.

In addition, the African Cup of Nations holders Zambia, move into a top 50 spot for the first time eleven years.
