Manchester City’s Nigel De Jong
Simona Marchetti believes the only thing holding Inter back from capturing Manchester City’s Nigel De Jong is his high salary.

News broke out on Wednesday morning, that the Nerazzurri have now shifted their focus from acquiring Paulinho to the City midfielder, in hope of pairing him up alongside Bologna’s Gaston Ramirez.

However, monetary problems are often the reasons why the Italian teams evade from making moves in the Premier League.

"The problem with De Jong, as well as for almost all of City’s players, is one: employment is prohibited for the Italianbanks and notably Inter’s,” Marchetti told QSVS Magazine.

“There are too many players who earn four-million-a-year. So if he does not voluntarily reduce his salary I see it as becoming difficult.

“In fact players aren’t willing to take less; therefore, I see it De Jong as a suggestion for the time being.”
