Bologna dent Milan’s title aspirations
Bologna managed to put a dent into Milan’s title aspirations as they held the Rossoneri 1-1 at the San Siro while Daniele Bonera saw red and Zlatan Ibrahimovic had a goal disallowed.
After a minute silence for Piermario Morosini, the match got underway at the San Siro stadium which saw Milan dominate the first quarter of the half of play but failed to capatilise on their best opportunity. Zlatan Ibrahimovic had time to place his shot inside the box but he opted for power and it skied over goals from six-yards.
Federico Agliardi did well to push aside Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s cross into the box 22 minutes in, while Diego Perez was booked and gave away a free-kick in a dangerous position in favour of Milan, however it was well dealt with Bologna backline.
It wasn’t the sweetest of birthday memories for Mark van Bommel, who lost his ball in the midfield 25 minutes in, which was crossed to Gaston Ramirez and slotted it past Christian Abbiati in goal.
Five minutes later Milan came close to equalizing through a Clarence Seedorf snapshot but it was cleared off the line, while Ignazio Abate’s excellent run and shot was denied by Agliardi two minutes later.
Seven minutes from the break Gaby Mudingayi nearly made it 2-0 as he muscled off Daniele Bonera’s marking to unleash a shot which went out at the near post.
The restart brought about no changes but the hosts came out trying to grab an early equalizer as Antonio Nocerino saw his effort flicker out at the near post, after some good work by Robinho.
Antonio Cassano was brought onto the field in the 55th minute; replacing an angry Seedorf who stormed down the tunnel unhappy.
Another goal was wrongly disallowed for Milan as Zlatan Ibrahimovic round the defender, chipped the ‘keeper and into the net before Nicolo Cherubin kicked it out. But the 58th minute goal was disallowed for offside.
Massimiliano Allegri was nearly desperation and made two quick subs, seeing Luca Antonini and Van Bommel come off for Urby Emanuelson and Alberto Aquilani.
The 79th minute saw Sulley Muntari take a shot from distance but the conclusion was poor and didn’t rattle Agliardi in goal.
It went from bad to worse for the defending champions as Bonera managed to get booked for a second time, reducing his side to ten men for the remaining nine minutes of play.
In the 87th minute Ibrahimovic attempted an overhead bicycle kick which went over the goals, before the Swede managed to grab a late equalizer in the 89th minute giving the Rossoneri a point as Robinho’s header went wide in stoppage time.
