Inter and Parma fight for European birth
Inter
will be hoping to break free from the clutter of third place when they meet
Parma in what will be a ‘very delicate game’ on Wednesday evening.
The Nerazzurri are currently lying in third place, but equal on 55 points with Napoli, Udinese and Lazio and they will be hoping the rest will stall on match day when they kick off at 20h45 at the Ennio Tardini.
Meanwhile, the hosts also have a spot for Europe to contend for as they will look to extend their winning streak of four games, for the remainder of the campaign, and make a push for the Europa League.
“The coach is keen to get as high as possible and we are charged even for Inter,” said Parma president Tommaso Ghirardi.
“It’s a very delicate game, athletic training will be important, we're playing a lot in this period but the match will be sold out, there is great enthusiasm and there is nothing wrong to dream.”
Since taking over on January 9th, Roberto Donadoni has taken the Gialloblu to new heights and he and his players will certainly not let the dream of reliving their glory days pass off so easily.
Out of the four teams equaled at fourth Inter have proven to look the hungrier out of the bunch to clinch a Champions League birth and Wednesday evening will certainly prove a test of their character.
Andrea Stramaccioni has been boosted by the return of Javier Zanetti and Walter Samuel from injury, with Dejan Stankovic set to return back from suspension.
It remains to be seen whether Julio Cesar will be fit to return after missing out on the match against Cesena due to an elbow injury, while Luc Castaignos and Christian Chivu will undergo late fitness tests to see if they will make the trip.
With only two games remaining after Wednesday’s encounter, the two Serie A outfits will be going all out to make sure they reach their season end targets.
