Utaka shoots down transfer rumours
Utaka staying put at Montpellier
Utaka helped Montpellier to a first-ever French Ligue 1 Championship this past season and he exclusively informed MTNFootball.com he has no plans to move on.
“There is a lot to play for – the Champions League, the French Cup and a lot more, so it’s not in my plans to leave Montpellier,” Utaka told MTNFootball.com
The 30-year-old Utaka netted seven goals including a brace at AJ Auxerre on the final day of action to ensure his club beat big spenders Paris Saint-Germain to the championship.
This month, the experienced striker returned to international football with Nigeria after almost two years in the wilderness.
He started the 2014 World Cup qualifiers against Namibia and Malawi, but was an unused substitute in the 2013 Nations Cup qualifier against Rwanda.
He said he was not disappointed that he failed to score on his Eagles comeback.
“I’m not down at all, it’s football,” reasoned the striker first capped 10 years ago.
“Things don’t sometimes happen the way you plan it, but I’m happy to be back to the team, that is what is most important.
“And again, we got three good results and with me, it’s all about the team and not me.”
