Barcelona forward Lionel Messi says he is in no rush to renew his contract with the club.

The Argentine is currently contracted to the Catalan side until 2016, but he says there is enough time to secure his future with the club he joined as a boy in 2000.

"I am not worried about my contract, I have repeated that on numerous occasions," he told Marca.

"My objectives with the club are longstanding; to improve and to try to win everything that we have already won.”

The 25-year-old is currently in the running to claim his fourth FIFA Ballon d’Or, but he says he would be as happy if one of his teammates won the crown instead.

"They say that I am very competitive," he said. "I like to train, I like to play and I like to win.

“I have always been like that since I was young, but it would make me very happy if one of my team-mates won the Ballon d'Or, they also deserve it.

“Without my team-mates I would not have won everything that I have won."

Messi has already scored 24 goals in 19 appearances in all competitions for Barcelona this season.
