Spain goalkeeper Iker Casillas hopes that striker Karim Benzema will not cause problems for him they face France on Saturday.

The two players lineup alongside each other at Real Madrid but on Saturday they will go head-to-head in a European Championship quarterfinal clash between their respective countries.

Benzema scored 21 goals for the Whites in La Liga last season and although he is yet to open his account at the Euros, Casillas still believes he could be a major threat.

"I'm really lucky to play on the same team as him (Benzema), and now destiny has pitted us against each other," Casillas told reporters.

"He's a fantastic player, but I hope he has a bad game on Saturday!"

Although Spain are favourites to advance to the semifinals, Casillas says they are expecting a tough game as the French cannot be taken lightly.

"Nobody in the team thinks it is going to be a stroll in the park or a thrashing," he said.

"We're going to have to work very hard to beat them."
