Spain midfielder Jesus Navas says they are not under pressure ahead of their quarterfinal clash against France.

The Sevilla winger scored the only goal of the match in the dying moments as Spain defeated Croatia to finish at the top of Group C and he says the team is coping well.

“We are very relaxed. We’ve finished first in our group and can go a long way,” Navas told reporters.

“It’s important to have calm in order to face these games.”

Earlier this year French TV channel Canal Plus aired comedy sketches suggesting that a number of Spanish athletes use performance enhancers, but Navas says that will have no effect on Saturday’s game.

“What came out wasn’t pretty, but we’re only thinking about football and the field of play,” said Navas.

“Any opponent can make life difficult, but we only need to worry about ourselves.”

Regarding the ongoing debate about the striking department, Navas said: “There have been goals with or without a number 9. What matters is the squad that we have and that we’re united.”
