Di Maria extends Madrid contract
Angel di Maria, Real Madrid
The Argentine is now the player with the longest contract with the Whites, surpassing Iker Casillas, Sergio Ramos, Fabio Coentrao, Nuri Sahin and Raphael Varane, who are contracted until 2017.
The 24-year-old joined the current La Liga champions in 2010 from Portuguese side Benfica and agreed to a lower salary to allow the club to pay for his release fee.
His salary has now been increased by just over 1 million euros, meaning he will be getting over 3 million euros per season.
Despite battling with injuries last season, Di Maria still managed to score five goals and also provided 15 assists in 23 league appearances for Jose Mourinho’s side.
He was linked to a number of top European clubs, including Chelsea, before committing his future to Real Madrid.
