Mascherano talks up Agger’s qualities
Javier Mascherano, Barcelona
The Danish international has been in good form for Liverpool in the past few seasons and was also impressive while captaining Denmark at the 2012 European Championship, and as a result he has attracted interest from some of the top club in the world.
According to British newspaper the Daily Mail, Barcelona are currently trying to outbid Manchester City for the services of the lanky central defender.
Mascherano, who played with Agger at Liverpool from 2007 to 2010, spoke highly of the defender in his recent interview with El Mundo Deportivo.
"Agger has great qualities in central defence,” he said. “He is clever and calm with the ball and can play a major role in the building of the game.
"He can actually score some goals also.
"As a person he is a great guy who takes his work very seriously. I have enjoyed playing with him."
The Argentinean played as defensive midfielder at Liverpool before he was converted to a centre-back after joining Barcelona.
