Amorebieta’s agents confirm Liverpool interest
The 27-year-old has just 12 months remaining on his current contract and although the Basque club is not keen to let him go, they may be forced to release him during the current transfer window if he does not agree to a new contract.
The Venezuelan’s representatives, Football Management 04, have now revealed that are amongst the teams who have shown a lot of interest in securing the player’s services.
"There is a clear wish on the part of the player to continue his association with Athletic and, even, see out his career in San Mames,” the agency told Marca.
“However, his good season has attracted interest from several teams, one of which is Liverpool.
“The English club is the one that has shown the most interest up to now".
Born in Venezuela and raised in Spain, Amorebieta played for the Spanish under-19 side before switching allegiance to play for Venezuela.
He made his debut La Vinotinto in September 2011 during a 1-0 loss to Argentina and currently has six senior international caps to his name.
