Sevilla midfielder Ivan Rakitic is happy after rejoining the squad for pre-season and aiming to be at his best.

The 26-year-old was granted extended leave after taking part in the 2012 European Championship with the Spanish national team but he says he is glad to be back in action.

He featured for Sevilla during Saturday’s friendly against Arcos de la Fontera and was amongst the scorers as his side recorded a comfortable 6-0 win.

“It was a friendly and the most important thing here is to feel good, we did and we played with good rhythm,” Rakitic told reporters.

“Coming back and scoring a goal is good for my confidence and I’m feeling really good after the break.

“Everyone can score; we are a team. The midfield players are also there to help in this regard.”

The Croatian international is convinced that he can become the player he was expected to be when he arrived from Schalke last season.

“I hope to continue from what we’re starting to see now,” he said. “There’s no reason why I can’t be at my best ever level in this coming season.

“I know what to expect from the Liga and I have a great group of players playing around me.”
