The 23-year-old spent a big part of the previous season on the sidelines due to a back injury and had to undergo surgery on his herniated disc.
"Diego is okay,” said Fazio while addressing the media from the pre-season camp at Costa Ballena.
“After what happened last season when he could not play because of injury he was able to go for surgery and is now recovering well.
“He is happy, lively and eager to resume training with the team."
Fazio says he is also pleased with his health after going for a season and a half without any major injuries.
"I have played one and a half seasons without injury,” he said. “It is very important for a player, you feel different, more confident, more secure.
“I'm happy to train every day with my peers, knowing that I am well physically.
“We also have some new players and the whole squad is feeling refreshed.
“I've been here many years and it’s always when new players come in to strengthen the squad.
“Competition makes the group grow and that's good for me and for the rest of the team."
