Defender Ivan Piris says he is looking forward to joining Sevilla and playing in one of the best leagues.

The Paraguayan is set to join the Nervions from Brazilian club Sao Paulo after agreeing to a loan deal with an option to extend his stay and he says he relishing the chance to follow in the footsteps of some fellow South American greats.

“It feels great to get the chance to play for a team like Sevilla,” Piris told El Desmarque. “Dani Alves and Luis Fabiano played there.

“I’m looking forward to playing in the Spanish league and facing some of the best teams and best players in the world.

“We have agreed to a one-year loan deal but it could run to four years if Sevilla exercise their option to purchase, and hopefully they will.

Fabiano, who spent six years at Sevilla, is Piris’ teammate at Sao Paulo and the 23-year-old says he has told him great things about the club.

"He (Fabiano) said it’s a very big club and they have a good team I should be able to fit in comfortably,” said Piris.

“He said the city is very nice and hot, but I’m used to that kind of weather anyway.”
