Sevilla striker Alvaro Negredo is set to be side-lined for up to four weeks due to a torn muscle on his left thigh.

The Spanish international featured for the Sevillistas during their 2-1 win over Valencia on Sunday before he was eventually substituted in the 75th minute.

He was part of the Spanish squad selected for Wednesday’s friendly match against Venezuela but upon arrival at the camp medical tests revealed that he has torn the adductor muscle on his left thigh.

According to the Royal Spanish Federation, the player will leave the camp on Tuesday to return to his club for further assessment.

The 26 year-old has scored six goals in 20 league appearances for Sevilla this season with his last goal coming in December 2011 during a 6-2 loss to Real Madrid. Since then he has played seven matches without finding the back of the net, although he was starting to look like scoring just before he suffered this injury.
