Algeria and Granada midfielder Hassan Yebda will be out of action for six months due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

According to AS, the central midfielder injured his knee during the final training session before the game against Real Sociedad over the weekend, and tests have proven that he will miss the rest of the season.

This will be a big blow for the Filipinos as the 27 year-old has been an important member of their squad throughout the season, starting 14 league matches and twice coming on as a substitute.

It is also spells bad news for the Algerian national team as he was part of the squad called up by coach Vahid Halilhodzic for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Gambia, taking place on February 29 in Banjul.

Meanwhile, his Granada teammates Ikechukwu Uche (Nigeria) and Allan Nyom (Cameroon) have been called up by their respective countries for qualifying matches against Rwanda and Guinea Bissau, respectively.
