Sevilla defender Julien Escude believes the club needs one good result to recover from their current slump and to rebuild confidence.

The Rojiblancos are winless in their last six league outings, with four of them ending in defeat, and have since slipped down to 11th place on the table.

“This is not easy for the players, the coaching staff and for the fans. We always go out to win but right now we’re on a losing streak and we need to break it as soon as possible,” Escude told SFC Radio.

“We lack confidence but since I arrived I’ve got to know the fans and I am proud to defend these colours. Lately things have not gone our way but we will fight; all we need is one good game.”

Like many other Sevilla players, Escude believes the key to their revival will be consistency as they have been guilty of blowing hot and cold.

"We have to keep trying to do everything better. Matches are decided by small details and everything counts,” said Escude.

“We need to be at our best fitness, be strong technically and we also need a bit of luck.

“We need continuity and to remain mentally and physically strong for the entire 90 minutes.”

Regarding their opponents on Sunday, Villarreal, Escude said: “They’ve been playing well but not yielding good results. They did well to draw against Barcelona and they have a lot of good players who can cause problems for us.”
