Mata backing Torres to bounce back
Chelsea winger Juan Mata believes club teammate and compatriot Fernando Torres will regain his goal scoring form.
Torres has not scored a goal for Chelsea in the Premier League since September last year but Mata believes it’s just a matter of time before his teammate finds the back of the net.
“For a forward like Fernando Torres not to score is agony as he's such a great player,” Mata told Sky Sports.
"But he can end that at any time and Sunday could be the perfect day. I know Fernando believes in himself and that is important."
Chelsea are currently in fourth place on the log, 12 points behind the Manchester sides, but Mata believes they still have to put up a strong challenge.
"You can never say anything is impossible in football. But at the moment the gap is too big between us and the Manchester clubs, too many points,” he said.
"We need to reduce the gap on Spurs but to do that we need to keep winning, just win, win and win.”
Chelsea will host Manchester United at Stamford Bridge on Sunday and will be looking to return to winning ways following their 1-1 draw against Swansea City.
