Puyol included in Barca squad
Barcelona's Carles Puyol
The 34-year-old sustained the injury during Sunday night’s 2-1 win over Osasuna in a collision with Osasuna’s Roland Lamah, but managed to finish the game.
The fracture was later diagnosed at a medical centre in Pamplona before it was confirmed in Barcelona on Monday.
The defender then returned to training on Tuesday wearing a protective mask, and although he is part of the travelling squad, coach Tito Vilanova says they will not risk him.
“Puyol trained this afternoon (Tuesday) and he tried to avoid any contact with his face, on Wednesday we’ll decide if he plays,” Vilanova told reporters.
“He’ll be there if the doctors say he can play, but we won’t run any risks.”
Apart from the unfit Eric Abidal and Marc Muniesa, Vilanova has summoned the entire first team squad including Thiago Alcántara, who has just returned from injury, as well as Isaac Cuenca and Barca B player Cristian Tello.
